Forests

Since forestry is characterized by long production times and uncertainty about future pricing, the focus is on multiple tree species and high timber quality. About 60% of the total productive forest land consists of deciduous trees such as oak, alder, beech, poplar and sycamore. The rest are conifers such as red, Sitka, coastal and Douglas fir and larch.

In recent years, about 400 hectares of the least fertile arable land have been planted with deciduous forest or with Nordmanniana and Nobilis fir for the production of Christmas trees and ornamental greenery.
